Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, Psychiatry
Job ID: 00002
Psychiatrist (MD/DO), Outpatient
Job description
In this role, you will hold your own panel of adults, adolescents and children, seeing them in Glens Falls, in Schenectady, or by video from home. We are open to a hybrid office structure. Your panel is your own and it is not restricted to patients already seen here: new referrals reach you from the clinicians in this practice and from outside it. When a patient is in therapy with us their therapist works in this building, so you are rarely the only person carrying a difficult case.
What makes this role different
• No call. No nights, no weekends, no holidays, no inpatient rounding and no emergency coverage.
• No supervising nurse practitioners. Your licence, your panel, your decisions.
• No RVU target. Your compensation is not a function of how many patients you move through.
• A hybrid week. Full time, with a good share of it deliverable by video from home.
• Ownership. This practice is owned by the clinicians in it, and we intend to keep it that way.
• Compensation above the regional academic centres. $325,000 to $425,000.
The role
• Psychiatric evaluation and medication management for adults, teens and children.
• Running your own panel, with the clinical calls yours to make.
• Talking cases through with the psychologist, social worker or counsellor already treating your patient. They work in the same building.
• Clinical documentation, prior authorisations and refills, with a full administrative team behind you. Scheduling, intake paperwork, insurance verification, prior authorisations, billing and credentialing are handled by people whose job that is, rather than left to the end of your clinical day.
• We are also moving the practice onto a single all in one clinical and practice management system to replace the systems we use now. The objective is aimed at your week: less time in the chart, and fewer places to enter the same information twice.
Compensation and benefits
We offer a highly competitive compensation and benefits package designed to support your career and well-being:
• Base salary of `$325,000` to `$425,000`, commensurate with experience
• Productivity incentive above an agreed clinical threshold
• Sign-on bonus
• Comprehensive health, dental and vision insurance
• Retirement savings plan with employer contribution
• Malpractice insurance, with tail coverage
• CME allowance and paid CME days
• Paid time off and holidays
• Licensing, credentialing and payer enrolment handled by the practice
ON OWNERSHIP
Most psychiatry roles offer a salary, and some offer a title. Very few offer a share of the practice itself. This practice has been owned by its clinicians since 1999, and for a psychiatrist who becomes part of how it runs, equity is genuinely on the table.
ON LOAN REPAYMENT
Both our offices are approved National Health Service Corps sites, and Doctors Across New York pays psychiatrists up to $40,000 a year for three years. Private practices like ours are eligible and both our counties qualify. These programmes are competitive, they run in cycles, and a clinician serves one obligation at a time, so we will tell you exactly where each one stands when we speak. One point we would rather raise now than have you discover later: as a private practice we are not a qualifying employer for Public Service Loan Forgiveness.
Qualifications
Required
• MD or DO from an accredited medical school. International graduates need current ECFMG certification.
• Completed an ACGME accredited psychiatry residency.
• A current, unrestricted New York medical licence, or eligible for one.
• Board certified or board eligible in psychiatry with the ABPN.
