Physiatrist Brooklyn Heights, NY
We are looking for a dynamic, motivated Physiatrist to join our practice part time in Brooklyn Heights, NY. The incoming General Physiatrist will be examining patients that need to undergo physical therapy and diagnosing pain because of an injury, disease, or a disabling condition. The physician will then be determining and implementing appropriate treatment plans for patients. The physician will be working 1-2 days a week.
Duties:
• Examining patients (History and Physical-review pertinent medical history, review labs/diagnostic imaging)
• Diagnosing pain due to an injury, disease, or a disabling condition.
• Determining and implementing appropriate treatment plans for patients.
• Lead a team of medical professionals, which may include physical therapists and occupational therapists, to optimize patient care.
• Monitoring ongoing progress and health of patients, and changing treatment plans, as necessary.
• Providing adaptive tools to improve the overall health and physical functioning of patients.
• Counseling patients and their families and helping them adapt to lifestyle changes.
• Providing support and advice to patients receiving long-term care.
• Conducting research on injuries, diseases, and disabling conditions to improve and advance treatments.
• Performs initial evaluation on each patient to determine patient’s need and ability to participate in the rehabilitation process.
• Initiate’s prescriptions to be followed by the appropriate therapy units, and modifies that prescription as indicated by the patient’s response to therapy and his/her medical condition.
• Conducts periodic re-evaluations of each patient to determine progress and indication for change or discontinuance of treatment.
• Prescribes appropriate prosthetic and orthotic devices as indicated. Checks for proper fitting of such devices.
• Keeps complete medical records of all services provided and the patients’ progress.
