Job Description
A leading healthcare system in Eureka, California is seeking a Board-Certified Neurosurgeon for an ongoing locum tenens assignment. This position combines outpatient clinic responsibilities with inpatient care and comprehensive call coverage, offering an excellent opportunity for physicians seeking a long-term assignment in a collaborative, patient-focused environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience managing a broad spectrum of neurosurgical conditions, including complex spine cases, and be comfortable balancing scheduled clinical responsibilities with after-hours call coverage. Physicians will utilize Epic EMR and work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality neurological care.

Job Responsibilities
Provide outpatient neurosurgery clinic services
Evaluate and treat inpatient neurosurgical patients
Perform neurosurgical procedures, including complex spine surgeries
Participate in weeknight beeper call and 24-hour weekend call coverage
Assess emergency neurosurgical consults
Collaborate with emergency medicine, trauma, hospitalists, and surgical specialists
Document patient encounters using Epic EMR
Maintain timely and accurate medical records
Deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care

Qualifications
MD or DO
Board Certified in Neurological Surgery (preferred)
Board Eligible within 3–5 years of residency may be considered
Active California medical license
Active DEA registration
FLUORO Certification (temporary certification acceptable)
Current CV with complete hospital affiliations
Minimum of two years of current hospital clinical activity in Neurosurgery
Ability to provide 100 neurosurgical cases performed within the past 24 months for privileging
Any employment gaps greater than three months must be explained

Working Hours
Weekdays
Clinic: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Night Call: 5:00 PM – 8:30 AM
Weekends
24-hour beeper call coverage

Coverage Dates
November 21 – December 9, 2026
December 27, 2026 – January 6, 2027
2027-2028 - open and flexible dates
Ongoing opportunities may continue beyond these initial coverage dates.
Guaranteed Hours
8 hours per weekday
Overtime applies after 9 hours per day
