This established medical center is a high-acuity facility featuring a 99-bed department with a Level 4 trauma designation. The facility offers strong institutional support and is committed to delivering comprehensive gastroenterology services to the Albuquerque community.

Physician (MD) - Internal Medicine - Gastroenterology
Job Details:
- Ongoing locum tenens need to replace a permanent provider, with multiple providers accepted for full weeks only
- Provider MUST be licensed in New Mexico - do not apply without an active NM license
- Provider must have an active New Mexico Board of Pharmacy license
- Provider must have a DEA that can be dedicated to NM on a consistent basis - it cannot switch between weeks
- Provider must be able to commit to 7-14 day stretches - half weeks will not be considered
- Open coverage weeks available in 2026: July 6-12, August 3-10, August 31 - September 7, September 28 - October 5, October 26 - November 2, and November 23-30
- July coverage represents an immediate and urgent staffing need
- Goal is to establish reliable, recurring coverage to ensure continuity of patient care and reduce scheduling instability
- Locum to permanent candidates are welcome
- Board certification is required; fellowship training is preferred given the higher acuity GI nature of this role
- ERCP (both diagnostic and therapeutic) and EUS procedures are an absolute requirement
- 8 hours in-house daily for rounding, with rounding hours Monday through Sunday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Providers will be on call Monday through Monday, 7:00 AM - 7:00 AM
- 15 patient encounters per shift
- Provider must have a 100% clean background history - required for temporary privileges
- ACLS and BLS certifications required
- Credentialing timeframe is approximately 90 days
- Nearest airport is Albuquerque International Airport
- Preferred specialty skills include upper and lower GI endoscopy, colonoscopy with biopsy and polyp excision, ERCP, EUS, liver biopsy, esophageal dilatation and manometry, sigmoidoscopy, small bowel biopsy, and insertion/management of Sengstaken/Blakemore tube
Compensation:
Competitive hourly rates with weekly pay and malpractice included.
