Locum Dermatology Opening in San Mateo, CA | Outpatient

Job description

We are seeking a Dermatologist for a flexible locum opportunity in San Mateo, CA. This is a primarily outpatient position focused on medical dermatology with occasional consult coverage and flexible part-time scheduling.

Position Highlights
Setting: Outpatient dermatology clinic
Contract Length: 6 months ongoing
Preferred Coverage: Thursdays, 2–3 times per month, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Additional flexible coverage options may include:
Wednesday afternoons
Monday mornings
Some Monday afternoons
Occasional call consults possible
Potential opportunity for remote video consult work a few hours per week

Clinical Scope
Mix of general medical dermatology and complex medical dermatology
No Mohs procedures required
Perform biopsies and manage cases escalated beyond teledermatology/photo review
Ability to manage pediatric dermatology patients age 13+ required
Average patient volume: Approximately 24 patients per day

Requirements
Board Certified or Board Eligible Dermatologist
Active California license required
DEA required
Minimum 1 year of recent dermatology experience required

Support & Environment
1 dedicated nursing support staff
EMR: Epic
Primarily outpatient clinic setting with occasional inpatient consult call coverage
Additional Details
Credentialing timeframe: Approximately 3 months
Client strongly prefers local candidates due to sporadic scheduling needs and travel cost considerations
