Non-Invasive Cardiology Locums | Madison, WI | 7-On/7-Off Inpatient Service | APP Team | Epic

Job description

Start: November 1, 2026 (or as soon as credentialed)
Length: Through January 1, 2028 (~60 weeks)
Coverage: Scheduled inpatient service plus on-call
Schedule: 7 days on - Monday 7:00 AM through the following Monday 7:00 AM; day shifts 7:00-18:00
Call: One weeknight NOC call and one weekend NOC call per 7-day block; call-back applies
Volume: Inpatient census fluctuates from approximately 7-22 patients per day (avg. daily census 15)
Practice Setting: Acute care hospital, adult inpatient cardiology service
Procedures: General/non-invasive cardiology - chest pain/ACS, heart failure, hypertension/dyslipidemia, atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias, valve disease, EKG interpretation, stress testing (treadmill, nuclear, echo), echocardiogram interpretation, Holter/event monitor interpretation

Round daily on the inpatient cardiology service alongside a team of 3 APPs (Mon-Fri)
Week begins Monday 7:00 AM with department team meeting and prep; days typically end between 4:00-5:00 PM once all patients are rounded on, with coverage until 6:00 PM when night call begins
Inclusive weekend: Saturday rounding begins at 7:00 AM and ends once all patients are seen, on call until 6:00 PM; Sunday is a combination of rounding and call
Echo and EKG interpretation/reading expectations throughout the block
Supervise APPs and manage a shared team caseload
Timely documentation in Epic

Requirements
Board Certified in Cardiology
Fellowship in General Cardiology; Cardiac Imaging preferred/accepted
Wisconsin license and DEA required (IMLC accepted; open to licensure)
ACLS and BLS required
Minimum 2 years of experience
Ability to supervise APPs
COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
Credentialing/privileging timeframe: approximately 90 days; case logs required
Online EMR modules or pre-employment training must be completed prior to first day

Travel billable: airfare, hotel/lodging, rental car, and mileage.
