Non-Invasive Cardiology Locums in Madison, WI | 7 On / 7 Off | Clinic + Inpatient Service | Epic

Job description

Start: November 1, 2026 (or as soon as credentialed)
Length: Through January 1, 2028 (approximately 60 weeks)
Coverage: Scheduled clinic and inpatient service, plus on-call
Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off. Block begins Monday 7:00 with department team meeting and prep. Monday-Friday clinic 8:15-15:30; inpatient rounding days end between 16:00-17:00 once all patients are seen, with coverage until 18:00. Saturday begins at 7:00 and ends once rounding is complete, on call until 18:00. Sunday is a combination of rounding and call. Block ends the following Monday at 06:00.
Call: One weeknight night call and one weekend night call per 7-day block, with associated reading expectations
Volume: Inpatient census fluctuates from approximately 7-22 patients per day; outpatient averages 15 visits per day when clinic coverage is needed. Clinic templates are 15-minute follow-ups and 30-minute consults, with a consult focus.
Practice Setting: Acute care hospital (Adult Trauma II/III/IV) with adjoining outpatient clinic; adult patient population
Support Staff: Inpatient service model staffed by one physician and three APPs; intensivists, RNs, and cardiac imaging technicians available

General (non-invasive) cardiology inpatient service and clinic coverage, including chest pain/ACS, heart failure management, hypertension and dyslipidemia, atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias, and valve disease
EKG interpretation, stress testing (treadmill, nuclear, and echo), echocardiogram interpretation, and Holter/event monitor interpretation
Round daily with the APP team on a shared caseload; supervision of APPs required
Timely documentation in Epic

Requirements
Board Certified in Cardiology
Wisconsin license and DEA required (IMLC accepted)
ACLS and BLS required
Minimum 2 years of experience
COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
Credentialing timeframe is approximately 90 days
Online EMR modules or pre-employment training must be completed prior to the first day

Travel is billable: airfare, hotel/lodging, rental car, and mileage
