Locum Tenens Cardiology Physician
Description
We are seeking a Board-Certified Cardiologist for a 6–9-month locum tenens assignment providing both outpatient and inpatient cardiology coverage in Northern New York.
The physician will work in a primarily solo-practice setting, providing outpatient cardiology care, supervising stress tests, and supporting inpatient consultations and the stress laboratory.
About the Facility
This opportunity is with an acute care hospital system serving patients in Northern New York, with Adult Trauma Levels III/IV services.
‣ Outpatient clinic & stress-test supervision: Massena, NY
‣ Hospital consult service: Potsdam, NY
‣ An APP currently supporting the outpatient location is expected to leave at the end of September.
‣ Additional patient population and clinical details can be discussed during the interview.
Compensation

Job Responsibilities
‣ Provide outpatient cardiology clinic coverage approximately 3 days per week.
‣ Supervise stress tests approximately 1 day per week.
‣ Provide inpatient cardiology consultations and support the stress laboratory.
‣ Participate in on-call coverage from 4:00 PM–8:00 AM, as needed.
‣ Read the nuclear portion of stress tests as needed; preferred but not required.
‣ Participate in the hospital consult service rotation on an ad hoc basis.
‣ Float between outpatient and hospital locations in Massena and Potsdam, NY.
‣ Work independently while collaborating with available clinical staff.
Qualifications
‣ Board Certified in Cardiology – required
‣ New York medical license in hand – required
‣ Epic experience – required
‣ AHA or RQI certification – required
‣ More than 5 years of cardiology experience preferred
‣ Ability to work independently in a solo-practice environment
‣ Experience providing outpatient and inpatient cardiology care
‣ Experience supervising cardiac stress testing
‣ Cardiac imaging experience preferred
‣ Qualification to read cardiac imaging studies preferred
‣ Nuclear stress-test interpretation preferred, but not required
‣ No malpractice claims preferred
‣ Any malpractice history, including dismissed claims, requires a physician statement
‣ Current and complete work history
‣ No unexplained employment gaps of 30+ days
‣ Email and phone contact information required for submission
Working Hours
‣ Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
‣ Scheduled coverage plus on-call coverage required
‣ Preference for 4 weeks per month
‣ Minimum of 2 weeks per month may be considered
‣ Two locums may be considered for an alternating 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off schedule
‣ Assignment duration: 6–9 months
‣ Listed start date: October 5, 2026
‣ Earlier mid-September 2026 start may be possible, depending on credentialing and privileging
‣ On-call: 4:00 PM–8:00 AM, as needed
‣ Holiday coverage may apply
‣ Observed holidays: New Year's Day, Labor Day, Independence Day, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas
‣ Holiday coverage window: 7:00 PM the day before through 7:00 AM the day after
