Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Physician Assistant for a three-month locum assignment within a Cardiovascular Surgical program. This role is predominantly centered in the Operating Room as a 1st Assist, with additional responsibilities including ICU and surgical floor coverage.
Schedule & Call Requirements
Shift Pattern: Monday – Friday, 07:00 – 17:00 (10-hour shifts).
Weekend Requirements: TBD.
Call Status: Not Required. * Optional Primary Call: Must be able to manage ICU patients via telephone (no 24/7 inpatient coverage on-site).
Optional Secondary Call: Once per week and/or one weekend per month.
Clinical Responsibilities
OR 1st Assist: High-level surgical first assisting in cardiac cases.
Vein Harvesting: Retrieval of vascular tissues for use as a bypass conduit.
Procedures: Chest tube insertions and related bedside surgical tasks.
Patient Demographics: Adult population only.
EMR: Epic.
Submission & License Requirements
NCCPA Certification: Required.
State Licensure: Active New York State License is required.
Certifications: Current BLS and ACLS.
Experience: Must have cardiac surgery operating experience (1st assist, vein harvest, etc.). Robotic experience is a plus.
Compliance: Self-Query NPDB (pulled within the current month) must be provided at the time of presentation.
- On Call Requirements: Not required, but can take primary or secondary call if desired.
