Temporary Family Medicine Physician Assistant – San Luis Obispo, CA

Job description

Margaret Greenough, MD is a well-established family medicine practice in San Luis Obispo, California seeking a temporary Physician Assistant to provide primary care coverage for approximately 3–4 months, with the possibility of transitioning into a permanent role if mutually desired.

The PA will primarily support an established managed care/HMO patient panel and work alongside an experienced family medicine physician and medical assistant team.

Schedule:
3–4 days per week
Approximately 3 in-office days
Half-day remote telehealth coverage
Half-day remote inbox coverage
Typical clinic hours: 9:00 AM–4:00 PM
No call
Anticipated assignment: approximately September 2026 through January 2027

Clinical Responsibilities:
Routine family medicine and primary care visits
Follow-up appointments and chronic disease management
Preventive care
Telehealth visits
Prescription refill requests
Lab and diagnostic follow-up
Patient inbox management and care coordination
Approximately 12 patients per clinic day

Qualifications:
Current California Physician Assistant license
NCCPA certification
Primary care or family medicine experience preferred
Comfortable practicing with physician oversight in a small, established practice
Strong communication and patient-care skills

This is an excellent opportunity for a PA looking for a manageable outpatient primary care schedule in San Luis Obispo with an established patient population, strong clinical support, and no call requirements.
