Location:
A safe, friendly, small-town atmosphere on the largest inhabited island in the Great Lakes with a year-round population of 700 and a busy and fun summer tourist season.
Natural beauty and outdoor activities galore, including miles of sandy beaches, hiking, biking and birding trails, boating, kayaking, canoeing, snowmobiling, world class fishing, hunting, cross-country skiing, and dark sky stargazing all within reach of your backyard!Cultural and entertainment activities galore include world-class music festivals.
The position provides high autonomy and requires a provider who is comfortable acting as a first responder and adapting to the island's remote location, which is accessible only by ferry or small aircraft.
Relocation Assistance and up to 6 months of housing provided.
Schedule: Full Time- Clinic Hours 8 hour shift 3 days per week. Clinic operating hours are 8:30am-5pm M-F.
On-call coverage shared between two practitioners who work together on developing schedules
(nominal number of monthly calls).

NP/PA Role:

NP/PA provides primary care, manage acute and chronic conditions, offer urgent care for all ages and collaborates with local Emergency Medical Services:

-Work as a member of a clinical team to provide primary care and urgent health care services, in concert with the mission of the health center, while maintaining collaborative peer relationships with all the clinical team.
-Provides health care services mainly at the health center, but may do occasional home visits, as appropriately identified.
-Develops, implements, and evaluates plans of care utilizing sound clinical judgment based upon patient needs.
-Adheres to exercising safe and effective infection control practices, in accordance with the Clinic’s policies and procedures and general industry standards, while using equipment and providing patient care.
-Uses references and resources, including any clinical guidelines that are appropriate and generally consistent with those identified by other practitioners on the team, including the physician.
-Consults with physician(s) as appropriate.
-Displays leadership in identifying and evaluating issues and implementing processes to improve clinical programs.
-Completes all medical records and encounters thoroughly, accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring proper diagnostic and procedure coding and immunization records, thereby facilitating effective continuation of care and claims.
-Trains, coordinates, and oversees the work of a clinical assistant if applicable, maintaining accountability for the clinical services performed by that individual.

Qualifications:
Board Certified Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant.
Michigan NP/PA license active.
Experience in Urgent Care, Emergency Medicine and/or Primary Care.
Comfortable working autonomously.
